Cloth Menstrual Pads

Took a break from sewing masks to sew some menstrual pads.

So why cloth menstrual pads?

1. Knowing what’s in it

Companies aren’t required to label their products with what they are made from. This makes it impossible to make good choices about the products.

Disclose Ingredients

2. Comfort

When you make them yourself, you can modify the pattern until it is the perfect fit for your body. This is always a huge advantage to knowing how to sew. Menstruation sucks enough without having to use uncomfortable products.

3. Health

When you make your own pads you can use only materials that are safe and don’t bother your skin. You can get this kind of confidence with many online sellers too if you’re not looking to make your own.

4. It’s Cheaper

Anything that’s disposable is going to cost way more money. Switching to cloth pads can save you money every month. Instead of buying new pads, you’re just adding a few pads to a load of laundry. You can make these from the left over fabric from other projects easily enough. The ones pictured above were made from scraps left over from making masks.

5. The Environment

Reducing your trash is always a good thing. It’s good for our environment for us to move to a more reusable culture.

If you’re ready to make the switch, there are lots of sellers out there making great products. There are also lots of folks who’ve shared great tutorials on how to make your own.
