Making Robin (The Doll)

Here’s the finished doll!

The first thing that I did different then the pattern was the symbol on his chest. The pattern calls for felt. I did it in crochet.I really like how it came out.

He’s tipped enough here that you can see his eyes sit mostly flush even those they are post buttons. This is something I did differently then the pattern because I didn’t like the way that Batman’s eyes looked. I’m not a big fan of post buttons as eyes, but I couldn’t find white safety eyes. Anyone know where you can buy white safety eyes?

His cape ended up with serious curly attitude! Gives it a bit of a wind blown look.

I lifted the cape here so that you could see how his back looks. Nothing super (hehe) exciting back there.

See that curling? That’s the wind. And attitude. Because heroes need attitude. And stage wind.

Taking these photos kinda gave me the feeling that I was taking mug shots. “Stand to the left. Alright, face forward. Stand to the right.”

Side by side with the photo from the pattern. In the end, mine didn’t turn out looking like the pattern photo. But they are similar. And I am happy with him. So was Dragon (my daughter, whom Robin was made for). I actually think he came out better then Batman did.

This is a photo of my Batman:
